Description fournie par le vendeur

Inscribed and signed on the title page by Lucien Clergue (1934–2014), unique signed copy on the web. 72 pages and 20 artistics photographs of nude by Lucien Clergue and 20 artistics works by Gérard Simoën. Sofcover without dusjacket as issued. Mint condition.

While the women photographed in the nude are generally anonymous, this book also tells the story of the model Caroline, whom Lucien Clergue photographed memorably around 1956. She was one of the models for *Corps mémorable* (Memorable Body), published in 1957 and featuring poems by Éluard and Saint-John Perse. However, she was passionate about race cars and speed; in early June 1961, she was killed in a car crash at the Montlhéry racetrack. It is for this reason that the collection—a personal tribute to her—is titled *Le Nu foudroyé* (The Struck Nude)—struck down, in fact, by speed. A young teenager named Gérard Simoën, who was infatuated with her, used to wait for her by the side of the track. He later became an artist, and the second part of the book reproduces some of his works inspired by Lucien Clergue’s nude photographs and through this disintegrate woman's body,.

Shipped in fully protected packaging with postal tracking.
