Description fournie par le vendeur
An exceptional early 20th-century perfume atomiser bottle by Baccarat, finely crafted in cobalt-blue overlay crystal over a transparent crystal body.
Overlay crystal is produced by applying a layer of richly coloured crystal over clear crystal. The coloured surface is then carefully cut away by hand, revealing the transparent layer beneath and creating a striking contrast between the deep cobalt-blue ground and the luminous clear decoration.
The cylindrical body is richly cut with radiating palmettes, geometric diamond panels and delicate cross-hatched motifs. The sharp, polished facets capture and refract the light beautifully, giving the bottle remarkable brilliance, depth and movement. Its intense cobalt colour is complemented by an elegant antique metal atomiser fitting with an authentic, softly aged patina.
This rare Baccarat model is documented in the manufacturer’s period catalogue. A photograph of the corresponding original catalogue page is included with the listing for reference and attribution.
The bottle is unsigned, as is typical of Baccarat production dating from before the introduction of acid-etched marks in 1936.
A refined and highly decorative collector’s piece, combining Baccarat’s exceptional crystal-cutting craftsmanship with the glamour and sophistication of early 20th-century French perfume culture.
