Rare original Christmas and New Year card issued by H.M. Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother (1900–2002) in 1969.
Large-format folded cream card, the front decorated with an elegant gilt embossed Royal Crown.
The interior bears the printed greeting:
“WITH BEST WISHES FOR
CHRISTMAS AND THE NEW YEAR
1969”
Below, the card is personally hand-signed in ink by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother:
“from Elizabeth R”
Opposite the signature is a large oval colour portrait of the Queen Mother wearing a striking pink ensemble, pearl necklace and brooch.
Dimensions (closed): approximately 23.5 × 18.5 cm.
When opened, approximately 37 × 23.5 cm.
The unusually generous format, attractive colour portrait and large, clearly visible autograph make this a particularly decorative example of a Royal Christmas card.
Good overall vintage condition for its age, with minor traces of handling and age consistent with a card dating from 1969. Please refer carefully to the photographs, which form an integral part of the description.
