VINCENT PARIS CORNAS LA GEYNALE 2010

The Cornas La Geynale 2010 by Vincent Paris is an exceptional red wine from the Northern Rhone Valley, made 100% from Syrah on a granite terroir of centenary vineyards

Vincent Paris is a talented Rhone winemaker located at the southern tip of the village of Cornas. His story begins thanks to his grandfather who gave him a hectare of vineyard in 1997. Ten years later, he bought La Geynale, a very beautiful plot of Robert Michel. Today, it operates ten hectares, the majority of which are in the Cornas appellation, completed with Saint Joseph and Vin de Pays. He conducts his vineyards in a reasoned way, as naturally as possible (without insecticides or chemical fertilizers), and is inspired by the incredible slope of his plots to name his vintages according to their inclination: Granite 30 and Granite 60. Vincent Paris produces wines of beautiful purity, with gourmet and generous fruit, bottles that we can both afford to open in their young years, on the fruit, and after a long storage. His horns are therefore regularly hailed by professional critics, including La Revue du vin de France and Bettane and Desseauve. This discreet domain is gradually coming out of the shadows, we encourage you to discover it!

About the vintage

The syrah that makes up this vintage was cultivated manually on steep slopes facing south, a vine acquired by the winemaker in 2007. Once the harvest is done by hand, the berries macerate cold, at 12 degrees, for a week. Then, they carry out their fermentation with native yeasts only, and their pigées twice a day (morning and evening). The wine is then aged for about a year in oak barrels without new wood, in order to preserve fruit aromas. When bottling, the wine is glued to clarify and refine it.

We discover a nectar with an extremely complex black color with aromas of black fruits and spices. The wine is dense and deep, enhanced with a beautiful mineral texture. Its tannins, present, are fine and harmonious. Vincent Paris signs a beautiful vintage to enjoy with a bavette with shallots and its potato gratin, or a pork tenderloin with porcini mushrooms.
