Here we have superb quality oil painting on board signed N Riegen 1827-1889. The painting features a boat in very rough seas as the fishermen try to stay afloat. A wonderful piece of art which would grace any wall in your home.
Nicolas Riegen was born on 31st May 1827 in Amsterdam. Riegen lived and worked his entire life in his hometown of Amsterdam. Riegen was very adept at making sea- and riverscapes. He also painted some cityscapes.
In 1872, he became a member of "Arti et Amicitiae" in Amsterdam.
