"Il profumo della danza" (The Smell of Dance) is a renowned artistic project by Italian press photographer and photojournalist Angelo Cozzi ), which resulted in an art book and highly prized collectible photographic prints. Published in Milan in 1980 by Selezione d'immagini, this art book is a rare work sought after by bibliophiles. The book is bound in grey cloth and contains between 24 and 25 tipped-in color photographic prints (applied directly to the pages). The introductions and captions were written by Luciano Simonelli for this bilingual Italian-English edition.

Rather than immortalizing official performances and the glitz of the stage, Angelo Cozzi chose to photograph dance in its intimate moments and daily exertion. He spent a great deal of time capturing the atmosphere of dance schools, particularly that of the prestigious Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
