The Samick TO-120 (commonly referred to as the T120 or by its official catalog name "Uptown Legend") is the flagship Telecaster model from Samick’s acclaimed 1990s Artist Series. Manufactured in South Korea between 1990 and 2000, this guitar was Samick's statement piece, showcasing that they could build a premium, professional-grade instrument under their own brand name.
Technical Specifications
Body: Solid Ash (AN). This premium tonewood gives the guitar excellent sustain and a bright, punchy tone, though it makes the instrument notably heavy (typically around 3.8–4.3 kg).
Neck: Bolt-on Rock Maple with a classic rosewood "skunk stripe" running down the back.
Fretboard: 21 frets, usually all-maple with black dot inlays. It features a modern 12" radius, which makes string bending smooth and prevents notes from choking out.
Hardware: The definitive hallmark of the Artist Series T120 is its gold-plated hardware, including the bridge, control plate, pickup cover, and die-cast 16:1 ratio tuners.
