Description fournie par le vendeur
This fine quality manuscript leaf from the Holy book scribed by Abdullah at-Khadim in AD1616. The folio contains scripture from Chapter 6, Surat al-An'am (Cattle) v:80-84. These verses continue the narrative of Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim) reasoning with his people against idolatry (shirk—associating partners with God) and list the righteous prophets descended from him.
The framing and calligraphy are typical of the islamic art in the Mughal era of the Turk-Monghul dynastic period (1526-1857), designed for its aesthetic appeal as well as its legibility. It marked a "golden age" of cultural synthesis, known for strong, centralized administration, blending Persian, Islamic, and Indian traditions. It was a period of immense wealth, renowned for architecture like the Taj Mahal, literature, and art
Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing.
Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country. This will likely vary between 5% and 20% of the sale price depending on your country's Import Rate, so please check this if you are concerned. This is a Tax collected on behalf of your Government and is not an additional fee charged by us.
For our German customers I regret that due to new customs regulations applied in Germany, we are obliged to pay customs duties up front, and as we don't know the amount that will be paid, we have applied an additional Euro10 to the shipping. If the customs is more than this we will absorb the difference.
