Statue, Highlander Hunter & Whippet with Dead Boar - 37 cm - Régule - 1890

Here for sale is beautifully sculpted French art nouveau spelter statue depicting a Scottish Highlander hunter with his whippet standind over a freshly killed boar with his rifle slung over his shoulder as he blows into his hunting horn. The Scottish Highlanders became a topic of interest for French sculptors in the 19th century and particularly the image of the Scottish hunters.
The piece is cast in solid spelter rather than the more typical hollow-cast spelter hence it weighs nearly 8 KG. It's fixed to a socle and as can be seen in the photos the rifle has been bent out of shape.

The dimensions of the statue are H: 34 CM, W: 17 CM, D: 15 CM.
With the socle the dimensions are: H: 37 CM, W: 26 CM, D: 17 CM. The condition and wear are consistent with the age of the statue(please see photos for further information).

This is an incredibly rare piece and a must have for anyone interested in art nouveau and hunting memorabilia.
