Three-volume set of Die Reden Gotamo Buddho’s aus der mittleren Sammlung Majjhimanikāyo des Pāli-Kanons, translated into German by Karl Eugen Neumann.
Leipzig: Verlag von Wilhelm Friedrich, 1896–1902.
• Volume I: Erstes Halbhundert, 1896.
• Volume II: Mittleres Halbhundert, 1900.
• Volume III: Oberes Halbhundert, 1902.
An early German translation of the Buddhist Middle-Length Discourses (Majjhima Nikāya), offered here with all three volumes of the original edition.
Attractive matching half-leather bindings with raised bands, gilt spine titles and decorative gilt borders, complemented by pale green boards. The spines have aged to differing shades of green and brown.
Condition: External rubbing and scuffing, particularly to the spine edges, joints and ends, with uneven fading and some small losses to the surface material. The photographed interior pages appear generally clean with light age-related toning. Blue pencil underlining is present on all three title pages. Individual volumes have not been checked page by page for completeness.
