Style antique Bénitier - 1940-1950 - 38 cm

A large and finely detailed Catholic devotional wall-mounted holy water font (bénitier de chevet / d'intérieur) mounted on a solid grooved oak panel. 
This impressive religious piece features a central cross in alloy with rich relief decoration: 
The Four Evangelists (Tetramorph): Each extremity of the cross features a detailed medallion depicting the symbols of the four Evangelists accompanied by their Latin inscriptions: 
Top: Saint Matthew (Angel / ST. MATTHAEUS) 
Left: Saint Luke (Winged Bull / ST. LUCAS) 
Right: Saint Mark (Winged Lion / ST. MARCUS) 
Bottom: Saint John (Eagle / ST. JOANNES) 
Central Iconography: The Corpus Christi centered under the INRI scroll. 
Side Figures: Two full-length standing saints (The Virgin Mary and St. John) flanking the cross. 
Stoup: A gadrooned/shell-designed holy water basin attached at the base.

Condition:
In overall very good original vintage condition with a beautiful natural patina on the metal parts. The oak wood base shows authentic age-appropriate patina and minor signs of wear. Original hanging ring preserved on the reverse. Complete and free of structural damage.
