Description fournie par le vendeur
HUGE EUCRITE METEORITE – JIKHARRA 001 – 10 KG!
--An extraordinary extraterrestrial specimen from one of the largest known eucrite meteorite finds!
I am pleased to present this magnificent 10 kg complete individual of Jikharra 001, an exceptional eucrite meteorite discovered in Libya in 2022.
With approximately 2.5 metric tons of material recovered, Jikharra 001 represents one of the most remarkable and largest eucrite meteorite finds ever recorded.
-- A spectacular natural sculpture from space!
This impressive specimen displays a beautiful, naturally weathered desert patina, with attractive brown and bronze tones developed during its long exposure to the harsh Saharan environment.
Its irregular, sculptural shape is particularly fascinating, featuring numerous natural cavities, deep depressions and small vesicles.
Jikharra 001 is a eucritic impact-melt breccia, with certain areas displaying a remarkable vesicular texture. These numerous tiny cavities provide fascinating evidence of melting, volatile release, and rapid cooling processes that occurred on its parent body following a powerful impact event.
-- One of the most distinctive characteristics of Jikharra 001 is its highly vesicular texture. When cut, this eucrite reveals an abundance of tiny holes and cavities throughout its interior. Some of these small vesicles are also visible on the natural exterior surface of this magnificent 10 kg specimen.
Eucrites are rare differentiated achondrites, generally associated with the crust of asteroid (4) Vesta, offering a fascinating glimpse into the geological history of another world.
