Natsume - Fa - Héj és tengeri algás maki-e

Japanese Chu‑natsume with Shell and Seaweed Maki‑e Dimensions: H approx. 7.0 cm (2.76 in) × Max. Diam. approx. 6.8 cm (2.68 in) Weight: approx. 63 g Material: Wooden core, Genuine Urushi Lacquer Period: Showa Period, Japan (c. 1950–1970) This Japanese chu‑natsume tea caddy decorated with shell and seaweed maki‑e combines practical function with the artistic spirit of Oriental aesthetics. The entire tea caddy is finished in genuine vermilion lacquer. After multiple layers of coating and meticulous polishing, it achieves a highly reflective, mirror‑like surface that displays subtle layers of light and depth. The vermilion hue is rich and vivid, free from uneven tones, fully demonstrating the refinement of traditional red lacquer craftsmanship. The central decoration is the shell and seaweed pattern created using the delicate gold powder maki‑e technique. Blending realism and stylized expression, it depicts a spiral conch, a round shell, and gracefully stretching seaweed fronds. The textures of the shells are outlined with fine gold powder for a three‑dimensional effect, while the seaweed vines flow in smooth curves, extending gently to both sides, lively and rhythmic. In Japanese culture, shells also symbolise fulfilment and abundance. The maki‑e gold has a rich, mellow lustre that complements the vermilion lacquer base perfectly. The combination of gold and red conveys elegance and nobility, yet the refined lines of the design avoid heaviness or excess. This aligns with the core ideal of the tea‑centric wabi‑sabi aesthetic: simple but not crude, elegant but not ostentatious. The tea caddy itself shows only minor signs of age-appropriate use and is in good overall condition. - The picture is part of the description. The color of the item may be slightly different from the picture (due to camera and screen settings). - The successful bidder will be responsible for any customs duties and taxes (if applicable). - This item will be mailed by the postal service of Hong Kong in the form of airmail with insurance attached.
