A Carved Bamboo Brush Rest, Qing Dynasty
Of arched form, carved in openwork with a scholar seated beneath a pine tree, holding a book in contemplation, the surrounding landscape detailed with rocks, prunus, and flowering branches. The natural curvature of the bamboo segment retained, the reverse left plain with a smooth patina. The carving displays fine detailing and depth, typical of Qing scholar’s studio pieces.
