Konstantin "Zmogk" Danilov (1979) - "Borderline state #001"

- Technique details: Acrylic on cotton canvas - Certificate of Authenticity provided - Delivery stretched on wooden stretcherbars in a wooden crate First painting in a "Borderline states" series – This series dedicated to the analysis of emotional experiences and the construction of forms at the intersection of color psychology and sociology. Following in the footsteps of Bauhaus artists, Color field painters and abstract expressionists, I seek dynamic color combinations capable of influencing the emotional background. The core of paintings focuses on a single, base color associated with the dominant emotion. The color at the borders of the paintings, on the stretchers (often not visible in frontal view of the painting), are the brightest fragments, done using reflexive paint, that cast light on the surface around the painting and seem to vibrate on the periphery of our vision, represents sup-pressed emotions arising as a reaction to events or actions, generating a psychological dominant and hidden in the subconscious but affecting us and our surroundings. Typically, these colors are opposite to the main color or are more vibrant. Fluorescent paints are used on color interaction lines to create contrast, increasing color saturation, and altering its properties when in contact with the eye’s retina. «Borderline States» imply movement from the center to the periphery and back, mastering the color space, comparing emotional background and color. I would like to achieve combinations and dynamics that directly and positively impact the articulation of emotional intelligence. Bio. Konstantin Danilov (b. 1979, Moscow) is a painter and muralist based in Athens, Greece. A pioneer of Russia’s 1990s graffiti scene, his practice evolved toward Color Field painting, blending bold spatial compositions with psychological and emotional depth. He has exhibited at major institutions such as the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, RuArts Foundation, and Burning Man x Sotheby’s (New York). His works are part of notable collections, including the STRAAT Museum (Amsterdam), Montresso Foundation, RuArts Foundation, and Sofia Trotsenko Collection. Danilov has held solo shows at Triumph Gallery, Fineart Gallery, and Reloft Art in Moscow, and has participated in international fairs such as Urban Art Fair (Paris) and Affordable Art Fair (Amsterdam). His street art projects span over 20 countries, from Hong Kong to Paris and New York. His work explores themes of emotional perception, ecological fragility, and transformation of personality and the interaction between one’s inner world and the external environment, including in the context of emigration. Using techniques such as painting around the edges of the canvas to reflect the hidden emotional layers that frame our conscious experience. Instagram: @zmogk
