Important Note
This is not an original ukiyo-e woodblock print.
It is a high-quality printed reproduction that faithfully replicates an ukiyo-e woodblock print.
Please be careful not to mistake it for an original woodblock print.
This work is a printed ukiyo-e edition released in the 1970s by the Japanese news agency Kyodo News (Kyōdō Tsushinsha).
It is a faithful reproduction of Utagawa Hiroshige’s “The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō” (Hoeidō edition).
Unlike ordinary modern printing, the colors are reproduced with exceptional accuracy, making it nearly indistinguishable from an original woodblock print when viewed from the front.
In most cases, only by examining the reverse side of the sheet can one tell that it is a printed reproduction rather than an original ukiyo-e.
