Bound in full dark brown blocked cloth with a design in gold by Neil Packer, based on a relief decoration from a first-century silver cup. The text is set in Poliphilus and Blado types and printed on Caxton Wove paper. It includes a photographic frontispiece and plates depicting Roman art and artifacts, along with maps by Reginald Piggott. Housed in a matching dark brown slipcase.
The book is in excellent condition. The cloth binding is clean and tight, with bright, unrubbed gold blocking. The pages are crisp and free of markings. The slipcase is sturdy and clean with only negligible shelf wear.
