Two Woodblock Prints: Takarabune (宝船) & Ushi Tsukai no Sugata (牛使いの姿) - Multiple Artists - Giappone (Senza prezzo di riserva)

Work Name: Two Woodblock Prints: Takarabune (宝船) & Ushi Tsukai no Sugata (牛使いの姿) Artists: Multiple Artists Technique: Woodblock Print Takarabune (宝船) Paper Size: 12 × 14.5 cm (4.72 × 5.71 in) Frame Size: 22.5 × 27.5 × 2.5 cm (8.86 × 10.83 × 0.98 in) (Glass Panel) Ushi Tsukai no Sugata (牛使いの姿) Paper Size: 16 × 19.5 cm (6.30 × 7.68 in) Frame Size: 23 × 28.5 × 2.5 cm (9.06 × 11.22 × 0.98 in) (Acrylic Panel) Paper Material: Washi (和纸) Exquisite woodblock print Takarabune (宝船) was created in the 1960s by the renowned Japanese artist Yoshio Kanamori (金守世士夫,1922-2016). The central motif features vivid red carp with exaggerated forms; beside the carp, a hat-wearing figure with simplified facial features and lively expressions exudes the innocent charm characteristic of traditional Japanese folk art. The character Takarau (宝) on the white sail in the background alludes to the classic Japanese cultural symbol of the "treasure ship" — a motif that symbolizes fortune and prosperity in Japanese folklore. A signature label from the artist is attached to the margin of the print. The black-and-white woodblock print Ushi Tsukai no Sugata (牛使いの姿) was crafted in the 1950s–1960s by Hiroshi Gima (儀間比呂志,1923–2017), a distinctive figure in the post-war modern woodblock print scene of Japan. The composition captures the dynamic interaction between a figure and an ox, rendered with bold blocks of tone and concise lines — a quintessential demonstration of the woodblock print technique of "black-and-white contrast". The artist’s signature and seal are visible on the left side of the print. Both works come with their original aged wooden frames. Bearing dents and scuffs, the frames have been repainted. The print papers exhibit signs of aging including oxidation-induced yellowing and minor mold spots.Overall, the works are in good condition. - The picture is part of the description. The color of the item may be slightly different from the picture (due to camera and screen settings). - The successful bidder will be responsible for any customs duties and taxes (if applicable). - This item will be mailed by the postal service of Taiwan in the form of airmail with insurance attached.
