The Ferrari F40 (Type F120) is a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car engineered by Nicola Materazzi and styled by Pininfarina.
It was built from 1987 to 1993 to celebrate Ferrari's 40th anniversary and was the last Ferrari model personally approved by the company's founder, Enzo Ferrari.
The F40 was a technical tour de force, being the first series production car to use extensive Kevlar and carbon composite body panels, contributing to its light weight of 1100 kg (dry).
It was powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produced 478 horsepower, making it the first road car to breach the 300 km/h (200 mph) barrier
