Kyoto's Seasonal Flower Calendar - Summer Festival 夏祭り - Limited Edition 105/880 & Hand-Signed - Masao Ido 井堂雅夫 (1945 - 2016) - Giappone

We cannot ship to the USA due to suspension of the postal services from Malta. (Please read below). Masao Ido liked to make prints in series. His main topic was Kyoto. Just about every corner and angle of Kyoto has been potrayed by Mr. Ido. But Mr. Ido also had a great love for Japanese nature and botany. So it must be no surprise that Mr. Ido chose to combine his two loves, and make a series of prints showing flowers native to Kyoto, called the Kyoto Seasonal Flower Calendar. This print from the series is called Red & White Plum. As often in Mr. Ido's prints, he subtly places an animal or insect in his print. In this print one can enjoy a solitary bird resting on a branch. This print is in excellent condition. It has never been framed and always stored in a dark place. Masao Ido was born in 1945 in Beipiao in Northeastern China. After his family returned to their hometown of Kyoto in 1960, he began his artistic career under Koho Yoshida, working with dyes, before shifting to contemporary woodblock prints in 1972. Under the tutelage of Shigechika Ohtsubo, Masao Ido honed his distinct woodblock print style. His work captures a sense of tranquility, whether in the sloping eaves of old houses or lush gardens. Masao Ido has exhibited his work worldwide. His contemporary woodblock prints can be found in numerous permanent collections, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Due to the introduction of the import tariff system in 2025, Maltapost has suspended all postal services to the USA until further notice. If you live in the USA, you will need to give an alternative address outside of the USA for shipments. Otherwise, please refrain from bidding.
