Kôro bruciatore di incenso di un falco e uno scoiattolo - Bronzo - Giappone - Seconda metà del XIX secolo (inizio del periodo Meiji)
A rare and refined patinated bronze kôro 香炉 (censer), skilfully modelled as a hawk 鷹 (taka) perched atop a rugged rock formation. The proud bird stands upright, wings held close to its body, its head turned intently toward a squirrel 栗鼠 (risu) darting away at the base of the rock, entangled amidst finely cast grape tendrils and leaves 葡萄 (budô).
Executed in four separate sections: the rock base, squirrel, hawk, and removable cover with a small opening for incense.
Period: Japan – Second half 19th century (Early Meiji period).
Dimensions:
Height 42 cm, Width 25 cm, Depth 20 cm.
Weight 9.3 kg.
In very good condition, with only minor wear consistent with age and use. Restoration to the insert of the left leg. Please refer to the photos for a detailed condition reference.
