AN AMETHYST AND SILVER SNUFF BOTTLE China - Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) Early 19th century - C1825 Description VERY RARE TO FIND IN AMETHYST AND THIS PROVENANCE The stone carved in low relief with peony flowers and birds. The exterior mounted with fine silver filigree, depicting craggy rocks on both sides, the foot surrounded by an endless knot border. Diameter neck 21 mm and mouth 5 mm   Provenance Robert Prescott collection Purchased from Douglas J. K. Wright Ltd., London, on July 30th, 1970, for 50 pounds sterling. A copy of invoice is accompanying this lot. Condition: The stone in fine condition with some natural flaws. The silver with a few small dents.
