Aroma and Taste The nose is dominated by a sharp, smoky bouquet with notes of sweet smoke, grass, earth, creosote and tarred rope, which, when water is added, reveals accents of dark chocolate and smoked artichoke. On the palate, the whiskey surprises with a mixture of mint coolness, warm cardamom, rich dark chocolate, eucalyptus and hazelnuts, all braided with untamed, medical smoke and spices like anise or black pepper. History and Uniqueness Ardbeg Heavy Vapours was created as part of the experimental Committee Release series, where the purifier installed in the distillery since the 1960s was removed. In the 1960s, which allowed for a higher concentration of heavy congeners and sulphur compounds, making it one of the most robust editions of Ardbeg. Matured in bourbon barrels without giving age, this whiskey balances fruity and smoky elements in a way that emphasises Islay's wild nature, making it a valuable specimen for auction.
