Antique Dutch Pewter Brandy Bowl with Wooden Handle – Marked Hendrik van Leeuwen, Schoonhoven (circa 1850-1880)
⸻
Description
Elegant 19th-century Dutch pewter brandy bowl (also known as a sauce pan), crafted by Hendrik van Leeuwen, a renowned pewterer from Schoonhoven, the historical center of Dutch pewter production.
The bowl features a scalloped rim, a raised foot, and a turned wooden handle with a warm, natural patina. Inside the base, it bears the maker’s mark – a floral rosette above the initials “HL”, the distinctive hallmark of Hendrik van Leeuwen, active around 1850–1880.
This is an authentic and well-preserved example of Dutch craftsmanship from the 19th century. The pewter surface shows a beautiful aged patina consistent with its age. No repairs or cracks visible.
A fine collectible for lovers of European pewter, antique kitchenware, or Dutch historical metalwork.
