This is a very cool bronze statue of Bishamonten 毘沙門天. It was made by Hideyama 秀山 of Takaoka Copperware. It's a little hard to see due to wear, but the "秀山" stamp is on the bottom back. Bishamonten 毘沙門天 is a Buddhist guardian deity, known as one of the Four Heavenly Kings and one of the Seven Lucky Gods. He is the god who protects the north direction and is also known as the god of war and the Buddha of competition.  [Characteristics] He wears armor, tramples on evil spirits, holds a pagoda in his left hand, and a stabbing stick or trident in his right hand. He is said to bring good luck in competitions and happiness, and is a god who prays for good fortune, good luck, and prosperity in business. He is said to protect from worldly desires, demons, disasters, and misfortunes. He drives away evil with his power to drive away evil.
