Sir Ernest Shackleton - South. The Story Of Shackleton's Last Expedition 1914-1917 - 1919
Scarce. New impression, December 1919. Remains one of the defining works of polar exploration. Though the expedition failed to cross Antarctica, it produced one of the greatest survival narratives of the twentieth century. After Endurance was trapped and crushed in the Weddell Sea ice, Shackleton led his crew through a 15-month ordeal: camping on drifting ice, navigating 800 miles in open boats to South Georgia, and crossing its uncharted mountains to secure rescue. Covers worn, with a split at the base of the spine where it joins the back cover; foxing and discolouration throughout. Folding map with a small tear at the opening, not affecting the map itself.
