Unkown - Quran - India - 1650

A fine miniature bi-folio from an Indian Quran dated C1650, from the Medinian Chapter 3, Ali-Imran (The Family of Imran) v.103-117, in which the Prophet warns: against disunity, making God's revelations clear and to encourage what is good and forbid what is evil (v.103-105); describes the joyful and the miserable on the day of judgement (v.106-109),; describes the excellence of the Muslim nation (v.110); describes the reward for the rebellious (v.111-112); describes the faithful (v.113-115); and warns against hypocrites (c.116-117). Each leaf if 9x5cm and consists of 17 lines of intricate 'nashki' script in black ink, with simple gold aya marking the verses. Diacritical marking in red are provided for devotees. Each leaf is framed with two gold columns, a thin inner and a thicker outer. Each leaf has been lightly sprinkled in gold. Doubtless this would have been carried by a believer in order to undertake his/her daily devotional payers. The bi-folio is in great condition for a manuscript of 370+ years old. Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for mounting the manuscript, photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing. Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country. This will likely vary between 5% and 20% of the sale price depending on your country's Import Rate, so please check this if you are concerned. This is a Tax collected on behalf of your Government and is not an additional fee charged by us.
