Ichinokai-kasuri Tochio is considered to have the oldest history among Niigata Prefecture's tsumugi silk production areas, with its name appearing in ancient texts. Ichinokai is one such settlement within it. Ichinokai Kasuri is a plant-dyed silk tsumugi kasuri fabric passed down since the Edo period. The entire process—from sericulture to spinning thread and weaving—was once done entirely in-house. Today, this practice has vanished, making it one of the legendary textiles.
