Ciotola - Legno, Lacca - A large lacquer bowl with a golden shishi and temari
A large wooden bowl with a dark ground, decorated with a raised gilt-lacquer depiction of a shishi (獅子) shown beside a traditional embroidered ball (temari). Particular attention is given to the details of the mane and the characteristic curls of the shishi.
The surface features carved grain patterns that enhance the natural texture of the wood and create an elegant sense of movement around the central motif.
Japanese lacquerware (漆器, shikki) represents one of Japan’s most celebrated artistic traditions. These works combine durability and brilliance with intricate decorative techniques such as maki-e and nashiji.
---The bowl is in good condition. Minor imperfections to the lacquer and wood are present, consistent with age. Please refer to the pictures for further details.
The item will be carefully packed and shipped via DHL or FedEx, accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy.
