The sword is certified by the NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai, Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords) with a Kicho certificate issued in 1965, recognizing its historical and artistic significance. Moriyuki was a swordsmith of the Ko-Bizen school active during the late Nanbokucho and early Muromachi periods, particularly from the Meitoku era (1390) to the Oei era (1427). Known for his craftsmanship, his works are characterized by beautiful forging patterns (jichu) visible on the blade and refined hamon (temper line). The total length of the sword with the scabbard is 97 cm, while the blade itself measures 87 cm. The sword comes with a copy of its Firearms and Swords Registration Certificate, as the original document will be returned to the authorities. The certificate, issued in Gunma Prefecture (No. 21355) on August 31, Showa 40 (1965), describes the blade as a katana with a length of 69.3 cm, a curvature (sori) of 1.7 cm, two mekugi-ana (peg holes), and an inscription (mei) on the front reading "備州長船守行" (Bishu Osafune Moriyuki). The blade has some scratches, light rust, and several small nicks on the cutting edge. The accompanying bag has a tear. Please note that the stand is not included.
