Tare, mazza da combattimento in legno di Malaita. - Malaita - Isole Salomone (Senza prezzo di riserva)

Outstanding Wooden War Club – Malaita, Solomon Islands (Field Collected 1986) Length: 73 cm Provenance: Field collected 1986 Condition: Excellent / Museum-grade Material: Dense tropical hardwood This superb wooden war club from Malaita is an exceptional example of traditional craftsmanship from the Solomon Islands. Carved from extremely strong and heavy hardwood, the piece displays the elegant, balanced form typical of Malaitan fighting clubs—objects that once served both as weapons and as symbols of rank, strength and male prestige. Field collected in 1986, the club comes from a period when such pieces were still used in ritual contexts and held deep cultural significance. Its clean surface, powerful weight, and perfect, undamaged contours make it stand out among comparable examples from the region. The club is in outstanding condition, with a deep, natural patina and no cracks or losses. A rare opportunity to acquire a genuine, old Solomon Islands artefact with unquestionable authenticity and direct provenance. A striking, sculptural object—perfect for collectors of Pacific ethnographica, tribal art, or weaponry. Field collected in 1991 We pack securely sending worldwide Sold by Koos Knol, ethnographer and anthropologist, dealer of Papua Tribal Art for more than 30 years, expert and author of the book “Papua Blues”, written in Dutch. (Maybe in English next year.)  Published end of October 2024 A book about inside stories, a book that deals with the many encounters with special people in West Papua, the impressive experiences that the author has, about special encounters with men and women who tell him about secret things, about ethnographic objects and initiate him into the rituals and ceremonies. A must have for collectors, ethnographers, ethnologists, anthropologists and museums   Google:Papua Blues Koos Knol
