Mark Vestockt was a Belgian sculptor, graphic artist, painter and designer. He studied philosophy and literature at the University of Ghent and received an artistic training at the Academy in Antwerp. Later, he worked for the Higher Institute for Fine Arts in Antwerp.
Until the mid-1960s his work was predominantly lyrical abstract. There were many references to the small and large nature. In those works the viewer may find a great symmetry and a constructivist line.
His work evolved to a more structured composition often with monochrome forms. In the 1970s Verstockt was a part of an international movement that breathed new life into the geometric abstraction of the 1950s.
