Hand-painted Russian lacquer box from the Fedoskino school, originating from the Soviet period (USSR), mid-20th century. The box is decorated with a detailed landscape scene, executed in the characteristic Fedoskino style, with soft colour transitions, depth and light effects typical for this school. It is painted on papier-mâché and finished with multiple layers of lacquer. The exterior is signed on the front, and the underside is marked “Made in USSR”. The interior is finished in traditional red lacquer. Hinges and closure are original and function properly. Condition is good to very good vintage condition, with minor signs of age and use consistent with the period. No cracks or structural damage. This lacquer box is a standalone collector’s piece and a representative example of Soviet-era Fedoskino lacquerware.
