VITYRA - 劫

劫 Red ochre, caput mortuum, charcoal and ink on canvas 140cm x 100cm (55 inches x 39 inches) 劫 (Gō) — meaning “cataclysm” in Japanese — is a meditation on destruction and rebirth, on the sudden violence that both ends and transforms. In this painting, contemporary artist VITYRA summons a vision of rupture: a clash of darkness and fire where matter collapses into shadow, yet within that collapse a new form begins to breathe. Measuring 140 cm x 100 cm, the work is created with red ochre, caput mortuum, charcoal, and ink. The surface unfolds as an elemental struggle — deep voids of black swelling like storm clouds, met by the searing intensity of red that glows and recedes. Between them lies a threshold of dissolution, where boundaries blur and flame turns to dust. 劫 speaks of impermanence not as quiet fading, but as rupture: the moment where balance is broken so that something else may arise. It is the wabi-sabi of violence and stillness interwoven — the beauty not only of what endures, but of what must be shattered in order to transform. As with all works by VITYRA, the painting dwells within the philosophy of transience: in its dark currents and glowing fractures, one glimpses both the fragility of existence and its inexhaustible renewal. This original painting by VITYRA is discreetly hand-signed on the reverse side to preserve the purity of the artwork’s surface and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. VITYRA is represented by S-Gallery, a well-known gallery for Viennese boundary-pushing contemporary artists. The artwork will be shipped rolled in a secure, protective tube—an eco-friendly and safe method that reduces shipping costs and risk of damage. The canvas measures 140 x 100 cm, with an extra 5 cm border on each side for easy re-stretching. Frame placement is lightly marked on the back to assist precise mounting.
