A highly collectible and authentic terrestrial table globe produced in Nuremberg by the renowned Institut Artistique de C. Abel-Klinger for the French market. Based on tight geopolitical boundaries, this specific map can be accurately dated between 1852 and 1867, as it depicts Alaska under Russian control ("Amerique russe") and Tokyo under its pre-Meiji name ("Yeddo"). The globe features 12 hand-colored lithographed paper gores applied over a gesso-prepared sphere, showing clear, genuine historical overlaps that confirm its early handmade assembly. It stands on its original ebonized turned wooden base in the classic Napoleon III style, complete with its original turned brass finial at the North Pole.

Cartouche Text:"LA TERRE d'après les plus nouvelles découvertes. NUREMBERG: Institut Artistique de C. Abel-Klinger, Editeur."Directly below the publisher’s imprint, it features the rare and crisp signature of the engraver: "C. A. Wedermann ex Nbg." (the Nuremberg map engraver).

Exceptional Cartographic Misprint: This specific example is a rare cartographic curiosity. Due to a workshop layout error by the engraver, the North Pole region (surrounding the accurately labeled island of "Spitzberg") is uniquely misprinted and labeled as "POLE ANTARCTIQUE". This anomaly makes the globe a fascinating piece for serious map and globe collectors.

Good overall antique condition consistent with age. Stable sphere with expected historical paper toning and minor localized wear. The turned brass top mount is fully complete and intact. The bottom attachment screw inside the base is absent.
