The Sloane is a beautiful interpretation of the classic penny loafer. Its lines build a fascinating bridge to the rugged origins of Northern European footwear. The distinctive, vertical seam on the toe was originally conceived for Norwegian fishermen to prevent moisture penetration through a special, extremely dense hand-stitching technique. What once arose from pure, rustic utility has been elevated by Edward Green through consummate craftsmanship into an unmistakable trademark. On this model, the traditional vertical seam appears only as a wonderfully subtle, quiet intimation in the velvety mocca suede.
The creation of this shoe requires extraordinary dedication to traditional craftsmanship. Crafted on the proven 61 last, the loafer offers a wonderfully balanced, classically rounded shape. The true centerpiece is the hand-stitched apron, an exceptionally demanding and time-consuming task that requires absolute precision with awl and thread.
