Vintage Hermès Paris "Cuivreries" Silk Scarf by F. de La Perrière
An original Hermès Paris collectible scarf featuring the classic Cuivreries design by artist Françoise de La Perrière.
The composition is built around the theme of antique horse harnesses and decorative metal fittings. The centerpiece depicts a pair of heavy draft horses in ceremonial harness, surrounded by a complex system of leather belts, buckles, rings, and numerous decorative plaques and plates. The ornamentation is inspired by historical bronze and brass harness fittings: floral scrolls, heraldic and zoomorphic motifs, rosettes, and openwork medallions. This theme explains the name "Cuivreries"—conventionally "copper/bronze fittings"—that is, the decorative metal elements of horse harnesses.
The color scheme is very typical of classic Hermès: the main field is milky white, the wide border is a light beige-gray shade, the straps are a rich burgundy-red, and the metal elements are gold, bronze, brown, and ocher. This combination makes the scarf particularly striking and beautifully conveys the illusion of three-dimensional metal and leather.
