The Pioneer M-6500 is a integrated stereo music system manufactured in Japan between 1976 and 1978. It was designed to provide a complete, compact audio system within a single unit. Combining a stereo amplifier, an FM/AM/LW tuner, a cassette deck, and a turntable with an automatic tonearm, it was a leading all-in-one solution at the time.

The amplifier delivers 2×12 W RMS at 4 Ω (with a rated peak power of 2×18 W) and features an OCL (Output Capacitor-Less) output stage. By eliminating the output coupling capacitor, this design contributes to a more linear frequency response and lower distortion. The phono circuit adheres to the RIAA equalization curve with a tolerance of ±0.5 dB, ensuring faithful reproduction of vinyl records. Controls include switchable loudness and continuous balance adjustment.

The FM tuner features a PLL-MPX decoder—a technology representing the most advanced standard for FM stereo demodulation in the 1970s—offering reduced distortion and superior channel separation compared to traditional variometer circuits. An FM mute function automatically suppresses inter-station noise, eliminating the static typically associated with manual tuning.

The integrated cassette deck utilizes a DC servo-controlled motor for tape stability and features a combination record/playback head with support for Standard (ST) and Chrome (CrO2) tape equalization. Dual VU meters allow for precise monitoring of recording levels. Belt-driven turntable featuring a 300 mm aluminum alloy platter, a tonearm with automatic return, anti-skating, and an automatic shut-off system; compatible with any cartridge using a standard international mount.
