Beautiful zoomorphic mask from the BEMBE tribe, former Belgian Congo. This type of mask were worn during the initiation proces. In Bwami society during circumcision ceremonies, flat face masks are worn, showing typically enlarged concave orbits and bulging coffee-bean eyes. Good condition with a nice aged patina. Zoomorphic mask with large concave orbits, forms the evocation of a forest spirit. Tracking number will be provided. May as well be viewed and picked up in our gallery in Vessem (NL).
