This is an early 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon, painted in egg tempera on a wooden panel with a traditional gesso (levkas) ground and gilded halos. The composition is divided into four central panels, each depicting a different canonical image of the Mother of God (Theotokos) with the Christ Child or in prayerful pose. These multiple Marian representations emphasize her intercessory role and were especially popular in Russian devotional icons of the 18th–19th centuries.
