Made in England, the excellently reviewed Alpha CD player is renowned for an “analogue“ presentation and enhanced the reputation of Arcam. Based on the highly regarded Philips CDM4/19 transport and TDA1541A/SA7220 chipset, the Arcam implementation includes separate transformers for the analogue and digital circuits and an Arcam designed DAC board.. The player was acquired 20 years ago as a backup for the Alphas in my two systems but has been in store for that time as both players have not missed a beat in 35 years. The power supply is set to 240 volts but can be adjusted to 220 volts by the moving of a link on the PSU board by a competent person. I have tested for function on local supply in Italy and the player was fully functional. The transport securing bolts will be inserted for postage and will require removal (unscrewing) before use.
