This Heuer Titanium Chronograph Quartz Ref. 223.206 is a rare, high-end chronograph from the "Titanium Collection" introduced in 1983. The timepiece also marks the transition between Heuer and TAG-Heuer, featuring a lightweight, matte-finished titanium "space-age" design. As one of the first luxury watches to heavily utilize titanium, it was cutting-edge technology for the time. It is characterized by its 38-39mm cushion-shaped case constructed from matte-finished titanium and embellished with carbon fiber inserts (black accents) on the fixed bezel. It features the early "Heuer-only" logo on a dark grey ("granite" or "moon dust") dial with a tachymeter scale on the outer chapter ring, three countersunk, concentric ringed sub-dials for chronograph functions, luminous indices and a date window at 3 o'clock. This model is highly prized because it features the Heuer shield rather than the later TAG-Heuer logo, signaling it was produced right before or during the 1985 TAG takeover. The watch is powered by a "mechanical quartz" movement, specifically the Calibre 185, which is an ESA 555.232 quartz base with a Dubois Depraz mechanical chronograph module on top. The watch is in very good cosmetic condition with light scuffs and scratches consistent with age; the sapphire crystal is mint. Please examine the photos carefully to ascertain its exact condition. The watch has been fully serviced and fitted with a new battery as of April 2006 by a Heuer-certified watchmaker ("The Hands of Time" based in Voorburg/The Hague (see photo of receipt, which will be included in delivery)). The service includes a one year warranty. The only downside concerning the watch is the bracelet (18cm), which is titanium, but unfortunately not original (see photo).
