Exquisite Antique Mother of Pearl & Gilt-Brass Opera Glasses - Chevalier Paris - c. 1900 - Excellent Optics
A truly magnificent example of late 19th-century French luxury. These opera glasses were manufactured by the prestigious Chevalier Paris, one of the most celebrated and historic names in high-end optics.
Manufacturer: Authentically signed "Chevalier Paris" on both eyepieces.
Materials: The body is meticulously inlaid with luminous, iridescent natural mother of pearl panels. The frame is made of gilt-brass, showing a refined and authentic aged patina.
Design: Classic Belle Époque aesthetic featuring a matching mother-of-pearl central focusing wheel.
Optics: Exceptional optical clarity. Despite being over 100 years old, the lenses are remarkably clear. A macro inspection confirms no fungus, no deep scratches, and no internal haze, offering a bright and sharp viewing experience.
Condition: In very good antique condition. The mechanical focus mechanism is smooth and fully functional. The mother-of-pearl panels are well-preserved with a stunning natural luster.
Case: Includes the original protective leather case.
