This is an original woodblock print from the time of production. It is thought to have originally been a copper container called a sutra tube for storing sutras. Later, metal fittings were attached so that it could be hung on a wall, and it was modified into a hanging vase. The carving is beautiful, and the year Tensho 17 (the year of the Great Rooster) is engraved on it. Although there are some dents and scratches, it is an extremely valuable piece of ancient Japanese art.
