A rare Mid-Century Modern shaker dining table designed by Danish architect Hans Wegner and produced by Andreas Tuck in the 1960s. The minimalistic silhouette is constructed of blonde oak with slightly textured graining. A double pedestal base supports the rectangular top, secured with a singular beam and exposed metal hardware. Denmark, 1960s. Hans Jørgensen Wegner was a renowned Danish furniture designer who contributed to the international popularity of Mid 20th Century Danish design. His style is often described as Organic Functionality — Wegner believed that striking aesthetics in furniture were based on a foundation of practicality. Hans Wegner received a number of awards and honors throughout his career, including the Lunning Prize in 1951, the Grand Prix of the Milan Triennale in 1951, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ Eckersberg Medal in 1956, Sweden’s Prince Eugen Medal in 1961, the Danish Furniture Prize in 1980, the C. F. Hansen Medal in 1982, and the 8th International Design Award in 1997. His works have also been shown in major institutions around the world, such as The Museum of Modern Art in New York, Die Neue Sammlung in Munich, and Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen.
