Kutani røgelsesbrænder - Keramik - Japan - 20. århundrede
A striking and impressive architecturally sculptural Japanese Kutani porcelain incense burner, dating to the Showa period (circa 1955–1970)
Some question about period and origin, could be Chinese you be the judge. No other similar item is to be found on the net.
This impressive piece combines bold geometry with traditional Buddhist iconography. A seated gilt-robed Buddha crowns the structure, positioned above a richly ornamentet architectural base decorated in vivid emerald green, deep cobalt blue, iron-red and thick gold Enamel.
The open work lattice section adds visual depth and lightness, while the repeating hexagonal and geometric patterns reflect the decorative strength of mid-century Kutani export ware.
With its substantial size (27 x 27 cm) and strong visual presence, this piece works exceptionally well as a statement object in modern, eclectic, or Asian-inspired interiors.
Bottom show inside and outside a Hair line but not broken.
The Buddha can be removed and quiet heavy.
