One of these rare occasions where the reprint is MUCH better than the original first edition. A Seventh Man was famous in the 1970s, when it was first published by Penguin, because John Berger is a genius and he was at the top of his game. This 1988 Granta edition had a tiny print run - and most Berger fans don't even know it exists - and yet it is easily the superior option when compared to the first edition (let alone later editions). The magnificent photographs by Jean Mohr, that didn't really work before, now shine, printed like they are here on semi-coated paper by a top printer. Not many copies around. Our copy was owned by French publisher Gallimard since new. A scribble on the title-page; otherwise totally like new. The jacket is not glassine, it feels more like Japanese paper.
