Figur - Sten - Kina - Qing-dynastiet (1644-1911) (Ingen mindstepris)
Chinese soapstone figure depicting Liu Hai with the three-legged toad (Chan Chu), symbol of wealth and prosperity. Beautifully carved with a lively expression and elegant flowing robes. The stone shows attractive natural coloration ranging from soft cream tones to warm orange and reddish inclusions, with darker accents enhancing the depth of the composition. The openwork carving around the rock and coins adds a refined and dynamic sculptural quality.
China, 18th / 19th century.
Material: soapstone.
Height: approx. 18 cm.
Width: approx. 9 cm.
Condition: overall in good condition. The figure has been professionally restored in the mid-section (old break), which is now barely visible and does not detract from the overall appearance. Minor wear consistent with age.
Figures of Liu Hai are highly desirable and represent good fortune, prosperity and success, making them popular among collectors.
