Seiko - Seikomatic 30J Automatic - Ingen mindstepris - 6201-8950 - Mænd - 1964

Seiko Seikomatic Diashock 30 Jewels Automatic — Ref. 6201-8950 | August 1964 A refined and increasingly scarce no-date Seikomatic from the golden age of early Japanese automatic watchmaking. Produced in August 1964 based on the serial number 4801457, this reference belongs to a short-lived and highly attractive chapter of the Seikomatic line. Without a date window, the dial remains perfectly balanced — a clean, symmetrical design that today feels even more sophisticated than many of its contemporaries. The Seikomatic line represented Seiko’s more refined automatic offering in the early 1960s, positioned above the more utilitarian end of the range and reflecting the company’s growing confidence just as Japanese watchmaking was beginning to assert itself internationally. Within that context, the 30-jewel Seikomatic stood at the premium end of the family, and period examples of the Cal. 603 / 6201-series are especially appreciated by collectors for their technical importance and elegant execution. Reliable collector sources also note that the 30-jewel versions were fitted with a gold-plated movement finish, distinguishing them from lower-jewel variants. This example, Ref. 6201-8950, is one of the no-date models produced around 1964–1965, a configuration now valued for its purity and restraint. The dial features pointed cylindrical markers that catch the light beautifully, along with the applied Seiko emblem at 12 o’clock and elegant Seikomatic script above 6. The text DIASHOCK 30 JEWELS further underlines its higher-grade specification. Reliable market and collector references identify this reference as a 37 mm stainless steel no-date Seikomatic powered by Cal. 603 and produced in 1964–1965. The stainless steel case measures approximately 37 mm excluding crown, with a lug width of 20 mm. The watch is fitted with a Bambi leather strap, a well-known Japanese strap maker. The snap-on caseback bears Seiko’s characteristic dolphin emblem, used on waterproof Seikomatic models of the period. On many surviving examples this dolphin engraving is known to become faint with wear over time, and that is also the case here. Condition-wise, this is an honest vintage example. The dial shows light age-related marks and spots. The crystal shows visible wear, small marks, and a very small hairline crack near the 7 o’clock area. The case shows normal signs of age and use. The dolphin engraving on the back remains present but has become faint. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description. The watch is running at the time of listing. However, no service history is known, and accuracy, power reserve, and continued operation are not guaranteed. As with all vintage mechanical watches, it is sold with the understanding that future servicing may be required. No box or papers. The item will be carefully packed and shipped from Japan using a reliable international shipping service with tracking. Shipping times may vary depending on the destination country and customs procedures. Delays caused by customs inspections are beyond our control, but all necessary documentation will be provided promptly if required. Import duties, taxes, and any additional charges are the responsibility of the buyer. Kindly review all photographs and description carefully before placing a bid. Thank you for your interest.
