A manuscript page from a Quran dated 1575. The page contains the final verses of chapter 14 and the illuminated header and first verses of Chapter 15. Verses 49-52 of Chapter 14 (Surah Ibrahim) in the Quran serve as a closing, vivid description of the Day of Judgment, warning wrongdoers and offering a final reminder to humanity. Verses 1-5 of Surah Al-Hijr (Chapter 15 of the Quran) were revealed in Makkah during a period of intense opposition to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The script is a crisp nashki in black. The whole script is surrounded by multiple frame lines. A fine Surah heading cuts across the page, with the header in white thuluth script within a gold cartouche. Blue arabesque book ends enclose the header.
